On May 4, STLCC named Kent Kay as Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration. Kay’s position was approved by the STLCC Board of Trustees during the April 26 meeting. Kay will begin his duties June 4, 2012.
After interviewing and reviewing the candidates, Chancellor Myrtle E.B. Dorsey recommended that the board hire Kay.
“We are very excited to have Kent Kay join the team at STLCC,” Dorsey said. “His experiences are a great fit for the college.”
A screening committee comprised of college employees evaluated candidates; the college Leadership Team and employees from the Finance and Administration Department met with the finalists and provided input.
Kay was responsible for accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing, grand and contract accounting, student finances, facilities and investment at his most recent position at National Louis University.
Kay is a certified public accountant with 30 years in public accounting and education He also served as the chief financial officer at Missouri State University for five years and was the certified public accountant for two firms in Texas between 1977 and 1987.
Kay’s other ventures in higher education include serving six years as the University of Alabama System’s vice chancellor of financial affairs and the general auditor of the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He holds a master’s degree in higher education administration for Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University.
