In an email message sent to all STLCC employees from Chancellor Jeff Pittman on March 4, it was announced that STLCC will be cancelling the Study Abroad Program through the end of August. In a statement provided to The Montage from Christopher Sulincevski, the coordinator of the Study Abroad Program, he said “The decision was made by the college’s leadership team.”

These cancelled trips include travel to China, Russia, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Scotland. According to Sulincevski, the semester-long trip to Canterbury, England in the fall is still scheduled to take place as of this time. He also said that students who have made payments toward the canceled trips will be refunded.

In the email, Pittman reported that “We will work to schedule similar experiences in the future.” He also reiterated “[…] the college’s top priority is the health and safety of our community. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates and information as necessary.”

STLCC recommends students protect themselves from the virus by: washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, covering your mouth and nose when you’re coughing or sneezing, avoiding close contact with people who are ill and keeping your distance from others if you get sick.
