Grief begins with denial, and I hope Democrats will accept their mistakes.

I do believe there is hope for the Democratic party, as I used to be a democrat myself and I still see potential in their movement. Even though I have aligned with the republicans — and they have taken the electorate by storm — I know that they are not perfect, and any chance at their failure to govern correctly is an opportunity for democrats to take the reins.
However, the harsh lesson that democrats need to learn is that they are simply out of touch. No longer are republicans the elitists of government — with some exceptions like Mitch McConnell — it’s people like Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, who make democrats look like dinosaurs. Left-wing politics seemed like the trend for years, but now it seems the ground has shifted and conservatism has become the new counter-culture.
The Democratic party used to preach equality and looking after the little guy, but now I just don’t see a little guy anymore. The things I believed when I was a democrat like widespread inequality and systemic racism, they’re just not as true as they say. MLK’s dream came true, and any evidence to the contrary is usually an inflated outlier. I’m not saying inequality doesn’t exist somewhere, just that it’s not everywhere, and the Democratic party has been pushing for nearly twenty years that minorities will continue to be oppressed unless they “vote blue no matter who.”
First, this whole oppressor vs. oppressed thing is just cringe. A lot of the ‘systemic discrimination’ talk is just some nonsense that democrats will throw around because they feel oppressed. What these people need to understand is that it’s not the 60’s anymore, nobody is oppressing them. The choice is theirs now: they can either live as if they’re oppressed or live as if they’re liberated. Even amongst an already diverse crowd of Americans, I can’t make heads or tails of why someone would still believe they’re oppressed.
Second, democrats need to stop stereotyping republicans and conservatives as racist, sexist, intolerant bigots. Democrats become so obnoxious when they pin republicans as oppressors and fascists – it’s just childish. We’re willing to reason and recognize ourselves, but these assumptions nowhere near represent the whole. All we ask is that you give us the same grace.
Another issue is that the Democratic party needs to chill with all this DEI stuff. Can they not see that they’re the ones making it worse on themselves? Here’s an example of what I mean from a CNN panel with Abby Phillip, where she asked her republican panelist Scott Jennings, “If race isn’t an issue, then why [under the Trump administration] is DEI mentioned every single day?” Well, we think DEI is unnecessary. America is already diverse enough — just look at the panel itself — so it doesn’t make sense for the Democrats to have policies catering to some social quota. Republicans and the majority of the country don’t care about this stuff, they just want competent leaders and workers, not activists and brats.
Recently the Democratic party picked a new vice chair, but instead of just picking the right person for the job, they limited their options in order to make their offices “gender-balanced.” Democrats might say this is to promote “diversity” but all I see is a blatant attempt at pulling in voters that “look like me.” These are lame, weak candidates who have nothing to offer except their Title IX credentials. And they think republicans are “obsessed with race”? We’re just calling out democrat policies that keep these things relevant when they shouldn’t be in the first place. Why should there be any policy that elevates people based on social status, rather than merit? If they want to combat social inequality, then wouldn’t requiring social quotas be doing the opposite?
Democrats have become so susceptible to these woke policies, they even protest hardcore about it, thinking they’re making a difference. Ah yes, an angry mob of Mexican-flag-wielding protestors swarming the streets of LA, this is exactly the change we need in the world. These antifa lunatics who wear masks, hate cops, burn American flags, and the democrats who endorse them, if they hate America so much, why don’t they just leave? What’s the point of living in a country that you hate? Sorry, democrats, but you gotta take the L on this one.
I know my criticism is harsh, but if democrats want to see why they didn’t get elected, then they need to see how goofy they look. Stop pretending “there’s no such thing as normal” so you can justify being goofy – being goofy is fine, but just because you want to be an exception to normal doesn’t mean there’s no normal. Read the room and realize that democrat protests are cringe, the woke stuff is cringe, DEI and CRT are super cringe – as well as lame. I’m sorry to say it like this but understand that this nonsense doesn’t make America a leader in ‘social justice’, it makes our adversaries see Americans as weak and soft. And yes, Americans do have the right to be weak and soft, but the government doesn’t have the right to move the goalpost for these people and compromise our standards of normality.
Not all democrats will get this, but that doesn’t mean they can’t reflect on it. Regardless of whether or not my criticism applies to you, these are the common things democrats still fail to be vigilant of. The same democrats who make legitimate arguments and listen to the other side are able to admit to these issues among their party, but the problem is that these democrats aren’t the ones in office. These democrats aren’t the ones leading the Democratic party, thus the majority continue to be oblivious to their mistakes, and the few rational ones voted for Trump. Republicans aren’t perfect either, but at least they’ve matured since the Bush-era. The saying now is, “This isn’t your grandfather’s Republican party anymore.” And it’s totally correct! The Republican party was able to look at themselves and trim fat, and I know the Democratic party is capable of doing the same, but the hard question is will they actually do it?
