The girls’ Archers Basketball team scavenged through Meramec’s campus on Tuesday, Aug. 23 for a team-building exercise. The scavenger hunt through the campus started at 12:45 p.m.
Each group started at randomly-chosen points on campus, which helped the team learn to better navigate the campus. The competitors’ goal was to collect the markings, made of flags and slips of paper, and rush to the gym before anyone else.
“We were doing the scavenger hunt to learn how to work together as a team and not to split up and to be one, instead of like one as an individual” said Forward/Center Alfreda Roberts. Roberts’ team came in second place.
“We did it for team bonding and also to get to know the campus because last year a lot of people had trouble finding services and who to ask for certain things,” Roberts said.
Erica Waelterman said that she learned communication, team building and had fun.
Erika Harvey said she learned to trust her teammates and communicate with them. “Our coach gave us a starting point and we just went from there,” Waelterman said. “[We] learned communication, team building and just had fun.”
