Work continues on the various STLCC projects on the Meramec campus as well as the other campuses, with certain projects entering their final phases.
“At Meramec, contractors at the Financial Services Education Center are working on ductwork, drywall, insulating pipes, and overhead and in-wall plumbing,” said Skye Lufsey, the college’s District Coordinator of Marketing and Communications. “They’re also setting miscellaneous glass and caulking around exterior windows. Painting on the first floor is also in progress. At the Emerging Technology Center, contractors are working on electrical rough-ins, ductwork, plumbing, and caulking around exterior windows. They’re also working on drywall for all three floors and framing on the second and third floor.”
At the Florissant Valley campus, Lufsey said that their new buildings are reaching some of their final milestones.
“The big update is that our first building, the Nursing and Health Sciences Center at STLCC-Florissant Valley, will reach substantial completion late next week,” she said. “IT and furniture move-in is underway, and we will start transitioning the first programs into the building, including nursing, behavioral health support and deaf communication studies, after finals wrap up to be ready for spring 2025. We are planning a ribbon cutting and open house for Tuesday, Feb. 4.”
Lufsey said that the new Advanced Manufacturing Center on that campus should reach substantial completion in early January. A smaller scale project is also scheduled to begin shortly, leading to one notable change set to disrupt student life at Florissant Valley.
“We’re also starting renovations to the Florissant Valley Student Center in January, so it will be closed beginning Dec. 20,” she said. “A scaled-down version of the campus café and campus store will be available in Science and Math for spring semester, while student services temporarily relocate to Administration and Communications.”
In other updates, Lufsey said, “At Forest Park, they’ve installed roofing and closed in the northern portion [of their new building]. They are continuing roofing work on the southern portion of the building. Contractors will soon start closing up interior walls and installing brick for the façade. We also held a beam signing at the end of October to celebrate the building’s progress.”
She continued, “At Wildwood, contractors have been busy with interior work: installing tile in bathrooms, mudding/taping drywall, and painting. Cabinetry is also going into some of the classrooms.”
